SENIOR D (70+) racing is coming to wellington!

It’s happening! In 2027, the Wellington Dragon Boat Festival will proudly showcase the Senior D (70+) division for the very first time in New Zealand.

Senior D racing is gaining real momentum internationally, and we’re excited to help lead the way by bringing this division to the start line here in Aotearoa.

We need a minimum of two teams to establish the division. You can enter as a complete team racing in a standard boat, or register your interest as an individual paddler and we’ll work to bring singles together to form crews.

To get things moving, we’ll be taking Expressions of Interest until the end of October 2026. All going well, we’ll then send you everything you need to complete your registration, pay your entry fee, rally your crew and start planning your adventure to the Capital!

You can choose to race Senior D only, or double-roster and compete in another eligible division as well. Both options are available — and you’ll only pay once.
