Friday is becoming hotter than a jalapeño with the launch of our brand-new SuperCrews races.

NZ SuperCrews

First up, paddlers from attending club teams and Club Singles will join forces to represent their zone in a fast, fun and fiercely competitive showdown.

Five mixed crews will represent Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Central and South Island, with regional pride and ultimate bragging rights on the line.

The winning crew will advance to the SuperCrews International exhibition final!

Our appointed WDBF zone selectors will form each SuperCrew from eligible paddlers attending the 2027 Festival:

Auckland – Sooupu Perese | Waikato – TBC | Bay of Plenty – TBC | Central – Joe Sione | South Island – Evan Roper

aus SuperCrews

With multiple Australian teams heading across the ditch, we’re adding an Aussie showdown to the lineup!

The Aus SuperCrews race will decide which Australian crew advances to the SuperCrews International exhibition final.

SuperCrews INTERNATIONAL

Five boats. One race. One SuperCrews International champion.

Our exhibition final will bring together:

  • NZ SuperCrew winner

  • Aus SuperCrew winner

  • Canadian SuperCrew

  • Filipino SuperCrew

  • USA SuperCrew

Expect plenty of noise, national pride and a whole lot of fun!

Taking part

There is no additional cost to race, and medals will be awarded. Each SuperCrew will receive a one-hour training session on either Thursday evening or Friday morning.

All crews will have a 50/50 mix of male and female paddlers. The sweep and caller can be any gender.
