Single Paddlers

Don’t have a team to join but want in on the action? No worries, you can join one of ours!

We know it can be daunting to rally 19 other people to join you, so we have started to bring individuals keen to dragon boat together. This is a competition that doesn’t exclude. You’re a dragon boater? Great. Never done it before? Even better. Try it once and you’ll be hooked.

If you register as a single paddler, you will be put into a team of others in a similar position. We give you a team, a coach, training sessions, and everything you could possibly need to do the sport.

This is a great way to find a new tribe and get the feeling of belonging that everyone needs in their life.

Once you’re put into a team, we will find out the best possible day/time for your weekly training sessions and determine what date everyone wants to start training. In 2025 we will be welcoming local teams to begin training for the Wellington Dragon Boat Festival from Monday the 13th of January. Training sessions occur on the hour starting between 4pm and 7pm Monday - Thursday.

Price

It costs $350 including GST for a single paddler. That price includes entry into the season, 7 training sessions, entry to the Harbour Fun Day on 8 February 2025, entry to the festival weekend 28 February 2025 – 1 March 2025, coaching, and all the necessary gear.
